Many people on Los Angeles' roads still need reminders of the dangers of texting while driving. Although most people do not see the harm in sending a quick text, research shows that texting while operating a vehicle is equally as dangerous as driving while drunk.

People of all ages need to keep both eyes on the road at all times to reduce the likelihood of a traffic collision. Those who have trouble keeping their phone out of their hands while driving should consider downloading one of the following apps to limit cell phone use while driving:

1. TextNinja

The primary features of TextNinja include silencing all notifications and sending a message of your choosing to people who attempt to text you. When users do not look at their phones while behind the wheel, they accumulate points. They can then share these points on social media. Climbing the ranks of the leaderboards is fun, but it also raises awareness to your friends and family how important it is to drive safely.

2. In-Traffic Reply

Samsung offers In-Traffic Reply. It utilizes your phone's GPS and sensors to know when you go over six miles per hour. The app already has pre-set messages to send to people who text you, but you can create your own that even includes a fun animation.

3. LifeSaver

LifeSaver is a preferred app for parents of teenage drivers. It provides updates to parents to let them know their kids are safe. The app will always run on your child's phone, and it will alert you if your child gets rid of it.

4. TrueMotion Family

This is one of the best reviewed safe driving apps. Everyone in the family can download it and accumulate points based on safe driving. With everyone involved, safe driving becomes a fun competition. The points are great for more than simply bragging rights; family members can trade points in for cash and other great prizes.

People who have suffered harm as the result of a collision with a texting driver may be able to claim compensation. They should speak with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
