Car crashes happen frequently in Los Angeles, but that doesn't mean you have to end up in one. One of the most common causes for a crash is the stop-and-go traffic that you're bound to get stuck in while traveling through the city.As someone who may or may not be familiar with driving in L.A., here are some tips that could help you get from point A to point B more safely.1. Get to know the carpool lanesThe first thing to do is to get to know the carpool lanes. These are also called High Occupancy Vehicle lanes and have diamonds painted on the pavement. They require at least two people in the vehicle but could help you avoid heavier traffic in single-party lanes.2. Cellphone use is illegalUsing a cellphone to speak on while driving in California is illegal. Use a hands-free device to keep your hands on the wheel and mind on the road.3. Lane splitting is legalOne important difference in California compared to some other places is that lane splitting is legal. Motorcyclists are allowed to drive in between traffic lanes, so you should be extremely cautious whenever you switch lanes.4. The right route matters (especially during Rush Hour)Traffic is usually heavy on the freeways during morning and evening commutes when you’re driving in Los Angeles. Weekday morning LA rush hour is roughly from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The evening LA rush hours are around 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and later. On weekend nights, traffic heading into or out of Downtown L.A. and Hollywood can be heavy. During these rush hours at such a high traffic volume, accidents are much likely to happen so it’s advisable to use alternate routes such as surface streets. In L.A. a "surface street" is any street that is not a freeway or limited-access highway (aka expressway). Keep in mind that the right route makes a difference. Before you travel, take note of the largest roads and fastest routes so you can avoid traffic and potential collisions. These are four tips for driving in L.A. Take your time, and you'll be able to get from home to your destination without any trouble while you're in the city.Updated June 24, 2020. Discover Los Angeles explains that Los Angeles drivers should take great care when driving during rush hour and avoid it when possible.
Oftentimes, when people think of personal injury cases, they think that every case is handled inside of the courtroom. However, the majority of personal injury cases that we handle are settled outside of court. This means that we are able to reach a fair settlement for our clients before ever having to go to trial. But ultimately, whether or not your case goes to trial is dependent on the nature of your case.
If you are like most California workers, you enjoy working overtime, not because you love the extra work, but because you love the time-and-a-half or double-time wage rates you receive. Sometimes you have that money spent in your mind before you even get it. Even if not, your overtime pay is important to you, and you want your employer to pay it as soon as possible.
