LiDAR to be included in autonomous vehicle parts

California has long been known as the land of the car and the emergence of self-driving cars is not likely to change that. What these vehicles might change or at least what many hope they will change is overall safety. One goal for autonomous vehicles is to reduce the number of car crashes that happen and therefore reduce the number of people hurt or killed in these senseless incidents.

Is lane-splitting safe?

The recent changes to California's state laws regarding lane-splitting have left many drivers worried that an increase in accidents is on its way. While the thoughts of a motorcycle zipping past you on a parked freeway might be terrifying, many experts have actually stated that the change will make the roads safer for motorcyclists and less-congested for all other drivers.

The most common causes of trucking accidents

All accidents can be dangerous and scary, but trucking accidents can result in even more serious injuries and frequent fatalities. If you have been involved in a collision with a large truck, you may be wondering what the cause of the accident was and how it could have been prevented. We at the Law Offices of Mauro Fiore, Jr., have detailed the top reasons for trucking accidents in California and across the country.

Common causes of medical errors

When you hear of a medical malpractice case, you may wonder how in the world such a life-altering mistake was able to happen. What you say after an accident can affect your case

Sometimes insurance ads are made to be friendly and inviting. Other times they have a serious, protective tone. No matter the way insurance companies decide to market their products and services, their efforts might belie their attitude toward you when you need to make a claim. At the Law Offices of Mauro Fiore, Jr., we understand that the insurance business is, well, a business. That means, in part, we know insurance companies are interested in reducing payouts.

What is the purpose of “Employees Only” signs?

You may have wondered why California storeowners and businesses place signs on certain doors saying “Employees Only” or “Authorized Personnel Only.” While it is certainly true that businesses may be trying to control what goes on behind closed doors, for example, the protection of employee property, the availability of sensitive or proprietary information or business inventory, but they may also be attempting to minimize the risk of harm to persons who are unfamiliar with certain hazardous or dangerous conditions. Sometimes such conditions are a necessary part of their operations, such as, when a retailer needs to store heavy boxes in a back room or a manufacturer has to use and operate heavy machinery.

ERISA fiduciaries and their outsourcing

When Californians choose to set up certain retirement plans, they are not without safeguards established by the federal government. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) mandates certain minimums standards, which must be complied with by plan administrators in the private sector. ERISA protects individuals by requiring those who control plans to be held to the highest fiduciary standards. The law also requires that individual participants be kept informed about their plans and able to submit grievances in order to secure their plan benefits. In the event that a fiduciary breaches certain duties outlined under ERISA, the same is liable to an individual participant for their breaches. A person who sues under the law may be entitled to attorney fees.
